On 4/18/10, Jaque wrote the following in the private Miracle in the Mirror forum (posted with Jaque's permission):

"I'm happy to report that I'm a healthy specimen.  I'm also happy to say I've been "challenged" in the health area for years because I didn't understand the principles enough to respect them and "be healthy (whole) for He is holy (whole).  I love the journey I'm on.  As a result have become (very) intrigued by the subject of health as a "whole person" rather than as a "pile of parts".  I seek and find, I learn and make adjustments, all because the Wonderful One has revealed opportunities and opened doors I would not have otherwise experienced had I not sought Him for them.  "Before I was afflicted I went astray" (Ps 119: something…)

I love to learn …. Maybe one of these days we can start a Health Forum for those interested in making this a discussion."

So now I am intrigued and would like to know what principles you have learned to respect, Jaque!
Health is a topic of interest to me, and I would love to hear anyone's insights about it!  I'm also fascinated by the idea that God's holiness is wholeness, and He tells us to be holy!  That would mean He's giving us the means to do so.  I know of people who have gotten pretty legalistic about it, who follow the food rules in the Old Testament, and end up making nutrition "another gospel."  So how do we find the principles that promote health without making them laws and adding to the salvation that Jesus paid so dearly to give to us?

Wondering,

Georgia

Hi Georgia,

Thank you for starting this forum on health.  I don't know what the interest level will be or where the Lord wants to take this, but I want to qualify from the beginning that it is imperiative that each sojourner is listening to the Lord personally, because there are no pat answers on this subject.  This, like any other, is a personal journey.

I find the more interested I've become in health for the sake of health rather than for the sake of looking good, losing weight, etc., the more interesting the subject is.

I plan on returning soon to take up this subject with you.  Gotta go for now.

Love,

Jaque

I just came in from the golf course and was thinking "on the green" about where to start sharing on the forum.  (Hey, that's pretty good; I can finally both play golf and chew gum!)

In looking back at what I've learned thus far I'd have to say it certainly is a game of "elimination" (no pun intended) but it's true.  Not only is it imperative to have a good elimination physically, but also to be willing to test the many "attested" truths about health and eliminate those that don't work for me.   I think of health as I think of truth; some things are foundational to everyone (there is no other way to the Father but through  Christ) and others are my choice (how much time I will personally invest eating manna and how I will prepare each meal to be enjoyed); it's important to know the difference.

Those that are foundational (this is my personal revelation) have to do with tuning into the voice of my own body (Christ living in His 'Jaque' temple on earth), and finally agreeing that my blood has the last say.  "The life of the flesh is in the blood."  Recent blood tests answered questions that no longer required that I "guess" how much of this or that I should consume–my blood knows because it answers for me and not for anyone else.  I've been very confused in the past with all the so-called-available knowledge, especially on the Internet.  I can learn about anything I like but in the end, less is still more.  It takes a lot of patience to wade through much of this stuff.  For me the 'wading' has been necessary–I think because it teaches me to "own" what I find at last is true for myself.  I've had to play the game (elimination) but this is good.   Visionwriting these many years is no different.  I show up believing that God WILL reward me with a revelation of Himself, but I never know how much delusion, error, emotion, etc, will land on paper before the Light dawns. I've decided that the reward is worth the effort.  I'm committed so I "just keep walking" or pressing towards the mark of the high calling.

Okay Jaque, slow down.  Does this make sense so far to any of you?

Jaque, Do you mean it's like trial and error?  You try it out to see what works?

Yes.  But before I do that I research to see if and how it has worked for others. It really needs to feel worth while in my gut…like it has a sound "basis" behind it.

It's sorta like putting together a gig-saw puzzle.  Lots of folks don't like that idea–it takes too long; a quick fix sounds better.  Don't we wish there was such a thing? I'm past 'wishful thinking'.  Now I look at it as a life  long journey that is part and parcel of what God uses to hone my "Christ" character.

God is Good…even and especially in the healing "details."

I've come to stir this pot:

Would you like to discuss the meaning of the verse: "Be ye holy for I am holy"  in light of health?

Do you think the word "holy" could be related to the word "healthy?"

What is health?  What is holiness?

Do you think God is interested in our physical health or just our spiritual health and why?

Ready to ponder with those truly curious,

Jaque

I've wanted to get back to this forum for some time.

Jaque, I know where you stand on this because I saw what you wrote in the study on the Character of God in the chapter about holiness:

"To be holy is to be whole, to be well."

God is well.  There is nothing unhealthy about Him.  We are called to be as He is.  Holiness has got to be more than the absence of sin, because God was holy before sin ever came into the world.

There are a lot of places in the Bible that show that Jesus is interested in our physical health.  By His stripes we are healed.  I believe He took all of our infirmities with Him as well as our sin when He died on the cross.

So how do we apply this knowledge to our lives?

I'll start by sharing where I'm at.  Thanksgiving 09, I found out that I had pre-cancerous cysts building on my ovaries.  Through prayer and the direction of the Lord, I'm seeing a nutritionist who is revamping my entire diet and way of thinking about food. Basically, his philosophy is, if your food is in a condition that it can reproduce than it will produce good in you.  If you're food is not in that condition, than it will not produce good in you.  For example, a raw potato will produce another potato; many of us have had this happen in our kitchens.  A potato chip will not produce anything, it will barely bio-degrade.  He told me that first day I went to see him, "As often as you make the choice, choose life and choose food that will produce life in you."

I believe that part of becoming holy is becoming whole.  For me that journey is leading me to a physical health and wholeness, through a better understanding of nutrition and nutritional cause and effect.
