It was a busy day and I was rushing to an appointment. I had not had time to journalize and really connect with the Lord, and had only copy/pasted the scriptures into a document. As I was driving to my appointment, I started thinking about all the "issues" I’m currently facing – the separated self was trying to figure everything out for myself. (This is how I was taught to operate for many years.) But this time I caught myself and started talking to God and thanking Him for being with me even when I’m distracted with what’s going on. I heard God say, "I’m always with you. Come be with Me." So I was thanking Him some more and felt led to turn on the radio. It was Jeremy Riddle’s song, "Sweetly Broken," and it was just beginning. Here’s the chorus:
At the Cross, You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees
And I am lost for words, so lost in love
I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered
I was so touched by this "God moment," I was in tears. A worship song came on after that and I drove to my appointment in a cloud of glory – heaven touched earth! The funny thing is I didn’t even think about those things I had worried about after that!
This is so neat Georgia. He always shows up when we're looking for and expecting Him to be our life.
It's a matter of awareness isn't it? Do we notice? Are we open to these serendipitous moments where we see Him jumping up and down with glee (this is how I see Him sometimes) in anticipation of revealing His love to us. He will show up in songs, scenes, books, movies, friends, lovers, and even in the mundane. He's everywhere present–even in us. He's Casme.
Love,
Jaque
Living 'loved' by keeping myself in His love… Jude 21
The Spirit of God is God in His freedom to be present to the creature, and therefore to create this relation and therefore to be the life of the creature. And God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, especially in revelation, is God Himself in that He can not only come to man but also be in man, and thus open up man and make him capable and ready for Himself, and thus to complete His revelation in him…
This is from a book I m reading, by Thomas Torrance. I love that I can trust God, because it is only in the trust of the love of God, that I can know it is possible that God is truly "Christ in me," being the beginner and finisher of ME, or should I say us. I have been so impressed lately by God's love in everything I do – whether it is studying and spending time with the Godhead or seeking to relate to life and all it entails. My starting point is always that He loves me, us, His world. And from this view all things find there rightful outcome and recognition…it is changing everything about how I see everything…thank you Lord, Sue
Hey Sue, good quote! I love how it points out that it is God who opens us up and makes us capable to receive revelation and ready for Himself. It is not something that we can do apart from Him. We need to be open to Him and yet only His reality opens us. Paradox! Trusting God to be the "all in all" is doing the same in me that it's doing in you…"changing everything about how I see everything!" Here's a great line from a book I'm reading:
The Christian faith is not man's search for God, but God's search for man. There are many religions; there is but one gospel. Religions are views; the gospel is good news. One is man's reach upward; the other is God's reach downward. E. Stanley Jones, A Transformed Person
It's good to know that even in redemption, I love Him because He first loved me (1 John 4:19) and the fact that He chose me (John 15:16) is my true rest and assurance.
Thanks for sharing your insights, Sue! I like how you said:
I love that I can trust God, because it is only in the trust of the love of God, that I can know it is possible that God is truly "Christ in me," being the beginner and finisher of ME…
I heard someone say that we can only trust God as much as we know His love for us. It's interesting how love and trust are related. And yet we choose to trust Him even when things don't turn out the way we thought/planned/prayed they would. A friend of mine said,
In love, I submit TO love.
It's like, once we've tasted His love, then we trust Him and submit to His hand in our lives. In the meantime, we're developing that relationship with Him on the inside.
