Georgia,
The Holy Spirit is clearly revealing the truth to your heart. You said, "The voice I hear saying these things and asking these questions has got to be the voice of the enemy trying to sound like me." I think it scares most of us to actually think that Satan is such a "personal" devil. We have no idea how close he is–able to "sound like us." It is the voice of a stranger (John 10) that we have so completely identified with. That's why I repeatly like to say, "We are not who we think we are." But with the eyes of our hearts opened to know ourselves as God's new creation, we more fully comprehend the power of a new birth.
You are really working out your own salvation Georgia, and it's great to hang in here with you.

Another question has been going around in my mind: What about emotions, thoughts, and attitudes that might come from inside a person that would not be sinful, but not necessarily from the Lord? For example, I am a mercy giver by nature, so when I see someone hurting or in need, I feel pity for them. I find I have to consider if I’m doing something out of human compassion or if the Lord is really directing me. Any thoughts?

Hi Georgia,
God intends us to be human–we are like the black velvet on which the Diamond (Christ) shows up more clearly. Therefore we will always have varying emotions (I thinkof them like waves of the sea ever rolling in and out, back and forth, high tide, low tide, and so on). Humans are meant to feel differing emotions which keep us 'dependent' on God. He is the Stable and unchanging One, we are the ever changing and dependent ones. We need Him, He supplies us with Himself–His unchanging stableness. We are the branches, He is the Vine.
To know whether He is the one directing us or whether we are just (at the current time) being directed by emotion and 'not aways so pure motives' we need to come back to the place of BEING STILL AND KNOWING that He is God. When He moves us, we consciously know that we are one (the same as) with Him.
Your thoughts?

OK, this makes sense to me of how you refer to us as human – we have human emotions. They are not necessarily right or wrong, they just are, and we need help to handle these sometimes strong, even overwhelming feelings. That is where we center ourselves, once again, in God's everlasting arms, and listen to "Christ-in-me." This is where the abiding, the resting, and the being in Him come in. This is home.
Aaaaah, peace returns.

Goodmorning, wow there is some good stuff going on here. The struggle to understand, I love this because the working thru of such questions will ultimately lead to better understanding and rest. This is a discussion that will go on and on for all of us because as we continue in our relationship with Him, He will continue to unfold… I love that, it makes the future exciting because there is always more to cultivate. The Lord in my journals is teaching me that ( the Spirits teaching and unfolding of truth ) and then by Him dealing with me thru my day ( Christ my life, taking my daily walk and revealing thru expericence and circumstance the all that was taught in my quiet time with Him) brings a consumation and a unity that is realized. I to am rising each day to rush to Him to know and believe with greater understanding. He makes it real as we know Him thru the truth and the intimate communication that opens the eyes of our understanding then as we go he plays it out in us and around us and then wham I get it! The Holy Spirit causes the rubber to grip the road. Oh the Holy Spirit is so becoming my bestest of friends! Also I am realizing that because I live in this world there are tough things to face and digest, but I stop everything in times of trial and temporary upset of faith and go over within me, and even sometimes out loud with crying and shouting, (the journal is a great place to gut) all I know I have heard and seen Him say, I cling to the the LIFE that is my LIFE and praise Him who is, He even takes my lack of seeing for the moment because of the trial and again makes Himself real and shows Himself to be right there in the midst of the whole thing. As I just wait upon Him clinging to the truth in the darkness. Oh happy day these are good times and I love you all …………. Sue

Thank you, Sue, for your reply. I agree – it's in the day to day walk that our faith becomes real and we are
work[ing] out your own salvation with fear and trembling; Phil 2:12
even as He
works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Phil 2:13
What an amazing God we have!

More thoughts on Casme.
The law of the mind that works apart from the heart seeks domination and control of what it perceives as plurality.
The heart that is one with Christ never seeks to control anything, for it isn't interested in the study of plurality but only to behold He who is ONE.

Amen, the flesh will always revert back to itself and its doings and the only way to remedy that is to return to the beholding of WHO HE IS. The trick most of the time is to do it without allowing the flesh to bring on a bout of judgements and religious doings, business. But just to turn to all that He is and allow that focus to gently usher me back into being. My faith statement of late is " I am fearfully and wonderfully made" and for me this brings back into the presense of WHO HE IS….
